Despite £300M Spree, Reds Captain Wants Another Attacker at Anfield
Liverpool captain Virgil van Dijk has made it clear that the club’s summer spending shouldn’t stop just yet — calling for another attacking signing despite the Reds splashing over £290 million on six new arrivals.
Arne Slot’s men kicked off their season in the Community Shield against Crystal Palace, taking the lead twice through new signings Hugo Ekitike and Jeremie Frimpong. However, the game ended 2-2 and Palace claimed victory 3-2 on penalties at Wembley.
The call for reinforcements comes after Darwin Núñez sealed a move to Al Hilal and Luis Díaz joined Bayern Munich, leaving Liverpool’s frontline lighter heading into their Premier League title defence.
Speaking to talkSPORT’s Alex Crook after the match, Van Dijk explained:
> “We just lost Darwin — he went to Saudi — and we lost Lucho, obviously, he went to Bayern. There’s always room [for more].”

Liverpool’s top attacking target, Alexander Isak, is looking increasingly likely to stay at Newcastle after the Magpies rejected a £110m bid plus add-ons.
With the transfer window still open, all eyes will be on whether the Reds make a late move to bolster their attack.
